Never travelled by ferry before? Don’t worry. Below is our step-by-step guide of what to expect when you get to the port.

WHAT TO EXPECT

ARRIVING AT PORT
  • Follow the signs to Dover.
  • Enter the port.
  • Follow the signs to passport control.
CHECKING IN
  • Have your passport ready and be prepared for a security check.
  • Follow signs to the P&O Ferries check in.
  • Check in with your booking reference and get your lane hanger to hang on your rear view mirror.
BOARDING
  • We’ll tell you what lane to drive into.
  • Drive and park up in the correct lane.
  • You’ll be guided onto the ship and a staff member will advise you where to park.
GETTING TO THE PASSENGER DECK
  • A staff member will show you how to get to the passenger deck via the stairs or lift.
  • If you need extra help, please let one of our staff know.
  • If your pets are with you, they must stay in the car during the voyage.

  • If you’re pregnant, you can travel on our Calais to Dover route up to your 38th week. If you’re further along in your pregnancy, you will need a medical certificate.
  • You are not allowed to bring alcohol on board the ferry for your outbound journey.
  • Drug use is prohibited on board all our ships.
