Caravans and motorhomes are a great way to travel across England. You can pack everything you need and even take your bed for the night with you as well!
There are a few things you need to check when driving to England with your motorhome, trailer or caravan. Here’s some helpful information to make your journey easier.

TAKING YOUR HOLIDAY HOME

BOOKING
  • When looking for departure times, select trailer or caravan.
  • Select the right size for your car’s and caravan’s dimensions.
  • Remember to include any extra length or height if you plan to have bicycles at the back of your vehicle or roof boxes on top.
BEFORE YOU TRAVEL
  • Check that your travel and breakdown insurance covers you for driving your caravan or motorhome in England.
  • Get your motorhome or caravan serviced before you travel.Do a little planning of your route in England so you know where caravans and motorhomes are allowed to stay or park.
DEPARTURE DAY
  • During busy periods (like summer and bank holidays) allow extra time to get to the port.
  • Check in at least 30 minutes before your departure time.
  • You’ll pass through passport control before you go through to check in.
DRIVING IN ENGLAND
  • You must remember to drive on the left.
  • Carrying a map of England may help you if you are planning on travelling around during your stay.
  • If travelling during winter months then it is advised that your vehicle is equipped with various items in case of breakdown.
