P&O Ferries voted UK's best by travel industry

P&O Ferries was named Best Ferry Operator at the British Travel Awards 2012 for the sixth consecutive year.

The company was also voted Best Cross Channel Operator and Best Ferry Operator (other routes) for its services from Hull to Rotterdam and Zeebrugge. More than one million votes were cast by members of the public and travel trade professionals to decide the winners of the awards, which are a benchmark of excellence in the travel industry.

Simon Johnson, Passenger Services Director of P&O Ferries, collected the awards on behalf of the company and said: “The British Travel Awards are the mark of quality for the travel industry and we’re thrilled to be named the UK’s top ferry company once again. All of our staff, ship and shore, work hard to provide a quality service that makes us the number one choice for ferry customers and it’s great to receive these awards as recognition of our success.”

The company also won a Travolution Award for Best Use of Social Media for its Facebook ‘TwistforTreats’ campaign, which featured videos of staff surprising passengers to mark the 175 anniversary of P&O. It is the first time that the company has picked up an award from the marketing industry for its social media presence.
