Austria always up for adventure

Alpine regions are not just places to visit during the winter, according to BuyAssociation.

The property magazine says that while skiing is eternally popular, it is not the only outdoor activity available to visitors.

Property editor from the magazine Paul Collins said that Austria offers "anything from walking and horse riding to mountain biking and paragliding…there is quite a market for adventure and outdoor sports in these places".

In addition, properties in these areas are popular as rental cottages.

Compared with other areas in alpine Europe, Austria is a relatively cheap investment.

According to the Global Property Guide, on average Austrian property costs around €3,000 (£2,409) per square metre, compared to €5,534 (£4,444) in Switzerland, €10,014 (£8,043) in France and €24,900 (£19,999) in the UK.

Channel 4 also recently rated Austria as number 16 in its "top ten places to make money" guide.

It is also easy to access on a driving holiday via ferry from the south coast.
