Vienna is to be brought alive with the city's annual contemporary music festival taking place this month.
Wien Modern takes place at venues across the city including the Musikverein and Konzerthaus and lasts until December 1st.
Every year has a different theme and composer as the centrepiece of the festival, with previous themes including foreign worlds, voices and words, on the fringe of Europe and rites and myths. Performers this year will include Felix Kubin, Barbara Luneburg, Volkmar Klien and the Breitband. There will also be discussions and exhibitions looking at the culture of contemporary music in Europe.
It was founded by conductor Claudio Abbado, and is said to have brought a cultural edge to Vienna, drawing contemporary arts fans from around the world. Other media will also be on display, including art and other visual arts of a contemporary nature.
Passes for the entire festival are €48.
