Battle of the fuzzy faces arrives in Switzerland

Chur in Switzerland is getting ready to hold its annual International Alpine Beard Festival.

In the competition, which takes place on August 9th, some 60 beard-growing men compete against each other to be named the holder of the Best Beard, What's on When reports.

According to beardcommunity.com, it is impossible to do anything to increase beard growth because 90 per cent of the appearance of the beard is determined by age and genetics.

The community advises good grooming to "keep the hair in optimal shape" and make a beard look stylish.

For those wishing to enter such a competition by growing their own Alpine-style beards, the website says that you should stop shaving for around four weeks and then decide on what shape you want your beard to be in.

To keep a neat beard, the beardcommunity.com explains that beard-growers should continue to shape the growth.

However, for a traditional "Alpine" look it may be better to abandon the razor altogether.
