Film fans will be heading to Switzerland this summer for the Locarno Film Festival, which takes place on the shores of Lake Maggiore.
Between August 6th and 16th the festival will screen cinematic offerings from around the world to an audience which will be equally cosmopolitan.
Films will compete in the international competition, for the special awards and in the filmmakers of the present category.
Those attending will also be able to visit the Swiss filmmakers Simon Edelstein's exhibition of photographs of cinemas from around the world, which will be on display in Locarno' Centro Elisarion during August.
Over a period of 60 years the event has grown in size and now attracts around 190,000 film lovers annually, as well as more than 1,000 journalists.
"Its long-standing tradition of openness and dialogue have made it an ideal platform for the promotion of national cinemas from Europe and the world over," say the event organisers.
