Get smoky at the Grill and Barbecue Swiss Championships

The Grill and Barbecue Swiss Championships offer barbecuing experts the chance to show off their skills to a crowd of judges and admiring crowds.

Cooks from around the world join in the competition and the best dishes are awarded prizes, in Berne from August 16th to August 17th. The competition is fiercely fought and barbecues are alight continuously over the two-day period.

Visitors are also educated in the best way to hold their own barbecues and given top grilling tips.

Other attractions in the Swiss city include the famous cathedral and the Houses of Parliament. There are also over 100 fountains as well as a large zoo and gardens.

People wishing to see the whole of Berne without having to take a footstep can also view the city from the air on a helicopter round flight, the city's tourism office recommends.
