Give your brain cells a workout in Berne

The Einsteinhaus in Berne is a museum set up to celebrate the achievements of renowned scientist Einstein in the flat in which he used to live.

He lived in the flat in Berne between 1903 and 1905 and it was in this period that he had his "annus mirabilis" (Year of Miracles) during which he discovered the photoelectric effect, Brownian motion and the special theory of relativity.

The museum itself has been reconstructed to look as it would have done when Einstein lived there at the turn of the 20th century.

As well as showing the conditions in which Albert Einstein, his wife Mileva and their son Hans Albert would have lived in, there are also pictures and texts to explain Einstein's work and his significance in the world of physics.

There is a shop available offering books, publications and postcards.

Berne is the federal city of Switzerland and has a population of around 128,000 people.
