The New Year will be kicked off in Salzburg with Mozart Week, marking the composer's birthday which is on January 27th.
Organised by the Mozarteum Trust, more than 25 events take place during the five-day festival. The festival has been growing in popularity over the last 50 years and has become one of Europe's most noteworthy. The musical event sees performances from some of the world's finest musicians and singers.
Some of the orchestras delighting crowds this year are the Camerata Salzburg, the Viennese Philharmonics and the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg. Conductors and musicians are drawn from Austria and further afield, many of whom will be performing the works of Mozart in his home city.
Mozart Week is held between January 25th and February 3rd and promises to be a great trip for people heading from the UK who can take the cross channel ferry and drive to Salzburg through some of Austria's spectacular landscape.
