Mozart's birthplace open as a museum

The building is located on the Getreidegasse and, in contrast to the rest of the houses on its street, is bright yellow coloured.

Reviewer naruto, writing on virtualtourist.com, described the building as "creaky" and "old", with narrow stairs and alcoves.

Exhibits inside the museum include an introduction to Mozart and his life.

Inside the first room of the museum is a replica pianoforte and a small crib containing a doll intended to represent Mozart himself.

The kitchen in the house is also open and contains objects of the type that would have been in the house when Mozart was there.

In the house, the study is home to a facsimile copy of a manuscript written by the composer.

Mozart was a composer from the Classical period and wrote more than 600 compositions for various combinations of performers including piano, opera, chamber and choral music.
