Orchestra Baobab, said to be Senegal's greatest orchestra, are heading to Europe and will be performing to audiences in Vienna on December 9th.
Together since the 1970s, the group broke the charts with their fusion of West African and Cuban rhythms, which was unlike anything heard before. Their Grammy award-winning album the Buena Vista Social Club brought them new-found fame with a younger generation, popular for its warm and summery sound.
The group's best-known member is Youssou N'Dour, who has developed his musical sound since the Baobab Orchestra began, and many other members have gone on to have success with solo careers. Hailing from Dakar, the group are the most popular in Senegal and their fame has spread around the globe.
On this tour they will be promoting their new album, Made in Dakar. The sound will be made up of saxophones, vocals, African rhythms and guitars.
