Verbier's ski season

Verbier in Switzerland is a well looked-after resort which goes all out at the start of the season.

It is part of the Four Valleys ski area, which is home to resorts such as Nendaz, Veysonnaz, Thyon and La Tzoumaz. Verbier has a reputation as being one of the world's finest off-piste resorts, with many internationally-famed skiers taking advantage of the steep angle of the slopes.

Events this season will kick off with the First Session activities in the La Chaux snowpark, which features three grades of obstacles. A fashion show is also held in a heated marquee, with boutiques and shops exhibiting the latest fashions from the slopes and beyond.

Meanwhile, Tzoumaz will also be opening a new Savoleyres lift, which can carry 1,600 people per hour.

The area is also home to the biggest toboggan run in western Switzerland, which is great fun for families and groups of friends taking a winter trip to the country.
