The Schonbrunn Palace is considered to be one of the most important cultural monuments in Austria, and is placed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
It was the palace of the Habsburg dynasty until the establishment of the Republic of Austria in 1918 and over 40 rooms and its extensive grounds are now open to visitors.
Guided tours of the palace's many rooms are available, beginning in the west wing and the apartments of Emperor Franz Joseph and his wife, which are decorated in a 19th century style.
It then moves through the rest of the palace, which was decorated by Austria's craftspeople and artists throughout the ages.
The palace also has a park attached which is open to the public, as well as a maze to keep children occupied.
People wishing to visit the palace can take a cross-channel ferry and then drive to Vienna through France.
