    Belgians 'do chocolate best'

    Category: ferry to Belgium news

One of the things a person can count on when visiting Belgium is that they will be subjected to some of the best-quality chocolate available, according to a national newspaper.

The Daily Mail names a case in point when recommending the country for its sweet treats: the work of master chocolatier Jean Galler.

Carrying on the family tradition since working in his grandfather's confectionery shop from a young age - a craft his family had adopted since 1930 - Jean Galler moved into the chocolate trade in 1930 where he came up with the idea of a combined restaurant, cafe and chocolatier.

Now continuing the family name with his Galler Chocolates brand, Jon is one of many people in the country who is ready to delight the senses of intrepid travellers who jump on the ferry to Belgium.

Agence France-Presse recently remarked that unlike their Belgian neighbours, the Dutch are brought up on an altogether different treat - the "black and chewy, often salty candy that turns most foreigners' stomachs" called drop.

There is so much on offer for those looking for a taste of Belgium. Read our guide to Belgium for more information.
