    Early music festival to take place in Bruges

    An early music festival will take place in Bruges, Belgium next month fans of this genre may be interested to know.

    Between August 1st and 9th Musica Antiqua (MA) will take place, offering festival goers the chance to hear music at lunchtime and during the evening in the medieval city.

    Event organisers say: "MA festival offers you a wide range of the world's finest musicians and an exciting view on the present-day early music scene."

    Gavin Bryars will open the event performing royal anthems, theatrical airs and the dance music of Henry Purcell on the Friday evening.

    Tickets for this concert will cost between seven euros (£5.50) and 31 euros, depending on the age of those attending.

    Another highlight of the festival includes Richard Egarr performing virginal music from the late Elizabethan and early Jacobean period on Wednesday August 6th.
