Best ski resort 'requires forethought' for money-saving

The best skiing resort deal possible must be sought after before taking the ferry to France this winter, a national reporter has asserted.

With the euro now becoming more valuable against the pound, people are looking to more traditional resorts closer to home in order to get the best deal, according to Jeremy Skidmore of the Daily Telegraph.

Slopes advertised in such countries as Romania and Bulgaria should also be avoided, he added, as they were cheap for a reason and had even fallen out of favour with people aiming to save money on their annual break.

Mr Skidmore recommended people look to the internet for any prior resort bookings as many travel agents were more likely to give big discounts online, with equipment and lift passes best bought in the UK also save plenty of cash.

One resort which the reporter noted as a popular choice this winter - Tignes - prides itself on the Grande Motte glacier which gives the skier a "unique ski area" to enjoy.
