Budgeting Brits have been advised to cut down on their carbon footprints and save their pennies when heading to France this year.
The Exeter Express and Echo has counselled its readers to hop across the channel to France by P&O ferry, noting that foot passengers can travel between Dover and Calais for just £2.
It adds: "For those of you who fancy a quick, cheap break to France before the end of September, type www.poferries.com into your address line."
Readers were also advised that if they wanted to bring their vehicles abroad with them then taking a day trip between Sunday and Friday would only set them back £15.
A survey conducted by holiday car rental broker CarDelMar earlier this year has revealed that Spain is the safest country in the world to drive in.
The study found that 99.5 per cent of vehicles hired in Spain are returned in immaculate condition.
