Very few passengers on ferries to France at the end of the month would find it easy to ignore the Salon du Chocolat, the Parisian leg of the 2008 Chocolate Show.
In a partnership with events running in New York, Tokyo, Beijing and Moscow, the Salon du Chocolat "retraces the grand story of chocolate, the splendours of its history, the richness of its culture and the mysteries of how it is made", the planners said.
Alongside the event's congregation of chocolatiers from around the world, the fair also promises a number of "shock events", including an urban art demonstration, where New York artwork will inspire a "life-size wall of chocolate graffiti", as well as the crowning of Miss Cocoa Butter 2008.
The "loveliest young woman who symbolises the values of chocolate" will take home the prestigious honour.
On October 29th, the exhibition will open its doors at the Porte de Versailles, closing them for another year on November 2nd.
The organisers have drawn 120,000 visitors a year to the event, putting the interest down to chocolate's "irreplaceable part of society".
