Marathon runners will be putting their muscles and endurance to the test in France next month.
On October 4th the Grands Crus Marathon will take place at Place de la Liberation and is billed by the Eurostar's events guide as "one of the world's most scenic races".
Winding through "some of the most famous names in Burgundian wine", the route will allow runners to explore the French countryside off the beaten track, as well as raise money for charity.
According to the Eurostar travel guide: "If you're of a masochistic turn of mind you can actually enter for the event through the tourist office (although numbers are tight).
"The more gluttonous (and not so fit) can pack a picnic hamper (not forgetting a couple of bottles of the local red) and make a day of it."
Since 1997, runners have been taking part in this marathon, which starts and finishes in Marsannay Coast and passes by vineyards in Chambolle Musigny, Vosne Romanee and Nuits Saint Georges.
