Jumping on the ferry to France this year to welcome 2009 will not result in disappointment, whether it is extreme sports based, a romantic break or just full of family fun, it has been revealed.
Three resorts have been named as great places to visit by Sarah Turner and Nicola Iseard of the Guardian, providing a large amount of diversity depending on what the traveller desires most.
Skiers have been told to head to Tignes, a popular complex of slopes which plans to hold "a free outdoor party for 15,000 people on December 31st", the reporting duo explained.
For the more traditional lovebirds, Paris provides "firework displays [which] range from the grand to the impromptu," with the Eiffel Tower and the Champs-Elysees providing great gathering points for crowds hoping to let off bangers and watch the "spectacular light show" at the monuments.
However, if it is a family trip a person is looking for, a short ferry ride can allow children to enjoy a trip to Disneyland, the "one place you can count on for a family-friendly New Year," Ms Turner and Ms Iseard added.
Alongside such features as an IMAX theatre, live shows and Sea Life aquarium facilities for the kids, Disneyland also provides cinemas and a nightclub providing something for the entire family to enjoy, park organisers stated.
