Paris Parade welcomes in New Year

Category: ferry to France news

The Paris Parade Festival is set to celebrate the turn of the year on December 31st when marching bands get together from around the world to usher in 2009.

In its 16th year, the first event hit the streets of the French capital in 1992-1993 when two parades in Montmartre and Chantilly joined together.

Event organisers said: "The festival line-up contains some of the best marching bands from America and from a little closer to home, star European performers from Czech, Poland, Belgium and of course Britain."

Furthermore, a number of smaller celebrations would also be littering the streets of Paris, each one centring around an historic area of the city.

Those travelling on ferries are more than welcome to join in with the festivities, but not as much as marching bands and orchestras who perform during the event, which the organisers are always on the lookout for.

Paris is currently at the centre of the tennis calendar, with the city hosting the BNP Paribas Masters until November 4th.
