Paris may be 'better late than never'

An Australian newspaper has noted that many people mistakenly make the ferry trip to Paris later in the year, as some believe it is the best time to visit the French capital.

However, the Sydney Morning Herald stated that visitors to Paris may find it more difficult to book hotels in October, as they tend to be cheaper after a large number of summer tourists have deserted the city.

It added that instead, "October is awash with commercial fairs, including the art fair and fashion weeks, so hotels are booked solid", meaning that the persistent can overlook accommodation gripes for the greater good in the form of a wealth of events to attend.

Lonely Planet said that Paris was one for stimulating the senses, with a wide variety of things to engage hearing, taste, touch and smell.

It highlighted the joys of rollerblading through Bastille and the mixture of pleasure and fear at the top of the Eiffel Tower as two great things to experience in the city.
