The town of Sainte-Livrade-sur-Lot will again play host to the annual Prune-pit Spitters Festival in the last week of July.
Each year, the residents of the 6,500-inhabitant settlement come together to compete in various categories of prune stone spitting to see who can spit the stones the furthest.
There are separate categories for adults and children and an average of around 100 people take part in the competition.
Along with the competition itself, there are numerous prune-themed delicacies on offer including pastries and other patisserie made out of the various varieties for which the region is famous.
There is also music, dancing and other revels which goes on into the night.
Sainte-Livrade-sur-Lot is in Aquitaine in the southwest of France.
Prunes are dried out plums which are wrinkly in texture and chewy on the inside.
