France's most famous woman, Joan of Arc is celebrated in the Musee Jeanne d'Arc in Rouen.
Situated on the south side of the Place du Vieux Marche, the museum contains about 50 wax figures of the French icon portraying moments in her life.
According to the museum's website, these figures have a "striking reality" about them. The museum also has a model of the castle and market place as it would have been at her execution of 1431.
A suit of armour is also to be seen in the cellar of the museum along with drawings, stamps and historical artefacts.
Joan of Arc was a female warrior who led the French army to several significant military victories. However, she was captured by the English and convicted of heresy before being burnt at the stake on May 30th 1431 at the age of 19. She became a saint in 1920.
Rouen is in northern France and is quickly and easily accessible by ferry from the south coast.
