Germany is famed for its beer and those with a real taste for it may be interested in taking a trip to the country during February and March to try some of the stronger beers available.
Taking place in the Paulanerkeller and other breweries, many strong beers will become the subject of taste marathons.
Known as Starkbierzeit, the festival allows participants to sample beers in the Paulaner Inn. This is where Starkbier was originally developed by German monks, reports WhatsonWhen. It is characterised by its malty taste combined with a sweetness, achieved through bottom fermenting. Salvator is another local favourite, containing 706 calories per litre.
The festival lasts about three weeks, with breweries around the country getting involved, particularly those in Munich. they will present their local brews, which focus around power and strength.
It is a great way to welcome in summer, giving visitors the chance to explore Germany.
