Mussel in on the experience in Cologne

Cologne is set to promote its mussel festival between October 2nd and October 9th, it has been reported.

What's on When has said that despite the city's distance from the sea, the authorities will be organising a seafood festival which will serve up the molluscs to those who wish to try them. Seafood dishes of all types will be available, along with Kolsh beer.

Music will also be a major part of the festival, with a choir and a Jazz band due to play, What's on When explained.

An Onix light show is also set to be one of the highlights of the festival, it is claimed. Children can also be kept busy by the bouncy castle, musician and face painting.

The travel news provider comments that the event will be based at the Schokoladen Museum (the city's chocolate museum) and on the Rheinterrasen.

Cologne is based on the river Rhine and is Germany's fourth-biggest city, with more than ten million people living in its Rhine-Rhur metropolitan area.
