Berlin is to host a Roman extravaganza as the Great Chariot Race - the Legend of Ben Hur is to take place in the city this September.
Setting off at the Trabrennbahn Karlshorst, the event will see 120 horses pull 30 chariots around a Roman arena. However, the event also offers a number of other activities for the family to enjoy.
Some 200 'gladiators' will also grace the occasion, as will a chariot parade. Those not participating in the actual race will also be able to partake in the more relaxed option of pony rides.
Entry to the Legend of Ben Hur is priced at between €9 (£7.16) and €12. Children aged under 12 will also be eligible for free entry to the event.
According to the visitBerlin website, other events due to take place in September this year include musikfest Berlin 2008 an international literature festival.
The city also boasts 175 museums and 11.4 million visitors toured the top 125 museum exhibitions in 2006, according to the website.
