Young Brits are discovering the delights of the German city of Hamburg, one expert has revealed.
According to the German National Tourist board, a competition it organised which allowed 15 students from 15 schools in the UK to travel to Hamburg highlighted its popularity with youngsters.
The winning group visited famous sights in the city such as the river Elbe, the Speicherstadt (warehouse city), Fish Market and the HarbourCity development.
Akshitha from Essex described the visit to Hamburg as one of the "best experiences" of her life.
Chloe from Tunbridge Wells added: "Hamburg is so unlike English cities - it is clean, the architecture is spectacular and it hasn't been ruined by skyscrapers and there are many trees and greenery."
The Lonely Planet described Hamburg as a dynamic and multicultural city that has much in common with Amsterdam and Venice.
It adds that the city is an "up-and-comer" which has only been invaded once in its entire existence and never fails to "inspire" visitors.
