The canals of one of Europe's most amazing cities will be brought alive next month as tourists flock to see the city lit up.
Amsterdam is to come alive with fairy lights on hundreds of canoes travelling around the city's waterways which visitors are invited to watch as they make their way around the beautiful city's canals. Taking place in the evening, more than 500 fairy-lit canoes and kayaks travel around the waterways of Amsterdam.
The annual event, called Kano Toertocht door de Grachten, always attracts thousands of onlookers, who can meander around Amsterdam's 165 canals. It takes place on October 9th and 10th and is free to watch. Onlookers are promised an incredible spectacle.
Amsterdam is also home to a great number of museums and galleries, including the home of Anne Frank.
This cosmopolitan city is easily accessible via cross-channel ferries on P&O's Dover-Calais route as well as overnight minicruises from Hull.
