This June and July will see the return of the Julidans Contemporary Dance Festival to the Leidseplein.
International standard choreography will merge dance, theatre and music.
The festival promises to provide challenging dance performances which will put viewers on "the wrong foot" and not always be "easy on the eye". Instead, dance should "give rise to passionate and conflicting reactions".
Performers are encouraged to foster young dance talent and each dancer will be bringing a young unknown dancer with undiscovered skill as part of Julidans Next.
At the centre of the festival is "curiosity" and daring, remarkable performances.
The festival is rooted in Dutch dance and also provides dance workshops.
It was established in 1991 and hopes to push the boundaries of dance, integrating it with visual arts and film as well as urban dance.
