A trip to Barcelona may be the perfect musical endeavour in the last two months of this year, when the Catalonian city hosts the International Jazz Festival.
Ferry travellers between Portsmouth and Bilbao may be tempted to get themselves further south in Spain between November 1st and December 31st, when jazz will be hosted in eight different areas across the city.
Among the performers will be British starlet Katie Melua, Cuban pianist and founder of Irakere Chucho Valdes, as well as former partner of Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock.
The event's organiser, leading Spanish music promoter the Project, organises over 300 stage shows per year, attracting over 500,000 spectators travelling to see a wide array of music.
Lonely Planet described Barcelona as a place that has transformed itself within 20 years to become one of the most stylish cities in the world.
It added: "The buildings, especially the work of the eccentric genius Gaudi, will blow you away.
"The people, with their exuberance, their creative spirit, their persistent egalitarianism, will fascinate you."
