Britons choose Spain for a lifestyle change

Britons who choose to retire in Spain do so for a change in lifestyle pace, NatWest has said.

According to the banks international division, there are many reasons why people choose to leave the UK and start a new life abroad.

Dave Isley, head of NatWest International Personal Banking, explained that expatriates across the channel in Spain are usually looking for a change of pace during retirement.

He said that there are "various lifestyle indicators, such as housing, public services, weather [and] natural environment" that drive retirees to take a cross channel ferry to a new country.

"Those people that are retiring are more pulled by those particular indicators," Mr Isley added.

He was speaking after new research from NatWest revealed that 87 per cent of those Britons who have left the UK behind say their life abroad is better than expected.

A further 68 per cent feel healthier after leaving Briton and 81 per cent claim to have a better sense of wellbeing.
