Indulge a love of guitars in Cordoba

In July Cordoba becomes the guitar capital of Spain as host of the local guitar festival.

According to Spain.info, the high quality of performers taking part in the festival has given it an international reputation and thousands of visitors come to the area each year.

The festival is part-educational, part based on performance.

Workshops will be held on how to make guitars, how to compose for the instrument and how to play in different styles including flamenco, classical and medieval guitars. Performances also take place around the city.

Different stages are the settings for music from different genres including Celtic music, jazz, blues, folk and post-modern.

The great and the good in guitar music also take part in conferences, exhibitions and round tables.

Cordoba is a city in southern Spain and was founded in Roman times.

In 2005 it had a population of 321,164, according to census results.
