The Catalonian town of Verges in Spain is a fine place to spend Easter with its vibrant celebration of the Holy Week.
Just a short ferry trip away, the region is a popular destination for European travellers, close to Barcelona and all that Catalonia has to offer.
And at Easter, Verges is particularly popular, as it celebrates Maundy Thursday with the 'Dance of the Death', or as the locals say 'Dansa de La Mort '.
Dancers in skeleton costumes make for an arresting site as they proceed through the town, with the Dance of Death comprising one part of the wider procession.
In the other part, the Passion of Christ is recalled with archaic verses, as the two combine to offer spectators an Easter remember.
Throughout Spain Holy Week is an important event, with street processions organised in most Spanish towns to mark different events.
