Brits buying homes abroad will be flocking to Spain, according to Property Frontiers. And 2008 is set to see an increase in this trend, as homes become more affordable in the country.
This has been put down in part to the credit crunch, forcing many people to sell up. It is thought that lifestyle buyers may be affected by this trend, but not those seeking sound investments.
A report by the Association of Property Professionals (AIPP) revealed that around £20 billion was spent by UK buyers purchasing overseas during 2006. The average property is bought for £98,166.
Spain and France are the top two markets for Brits looking to buy abroad, as has been the case for some years. A spokeswoman from Property Frontiers said: "Those looking to buy purely for lifestyle will almost certainly still look to Spain.
"Those interested solely in investment however would be advised to look to less established markets to maximise their returns on capital invested."
