Spain to welcome flamenco fanatics

One of the world's most important flamenco festivals will be taking place in Spain during February and March.

With its principle venue as the Villamarta Theatre, an extensive programme of performance will unfold from February 22nd to March 8th.

Held in Jerez, people from all over the country and the world flock for a piece of the tradition Spanish music and dancing, reports WhatsonWhen. The city is commonly known as the cradle of flamenco, as it is home to many of the influences that brought the dance about, particularly its gypsy quarter.

While dancing will make up much of the fortnight's entertainment, musicians are another vital ingredient, with all the traditional instruments doing their thing, including guitars and castanets. Some of the artists who will perform to crowds include Javier Latorre, Inmaculada Aguilar and Pilar Ogalla.

Those attending the festival will also have the chance to take part in a dancing course and are sure to have mastered the characteristic heel-stomp by the end of the lessons.
