Spanish highlights revealed

Holidaymakers heading to Spain this summer have been recommended a number of top events to make sure they have the best possible time on their break.

The Telegraph recommends Expo Zaragzo 2008 as the best event of the year, marrying the theme of sustainable development and water with futuristic design for the exhibition running from June 14th - September 14th 2008.

Other recommended excursions include the new European Grand Prix in Valencia, the Ibizan nightlife, the art of Madrid and beaches of Costa de la Luz.

"Pilgrims, foodies, clubbers, art-lovers, beach-bums and, of course, children: Spain has something for them all," wrote Fred Mawer. He adds that P&O Ferries can take holidaymakers on a cross-channel ferry direct from Portsmouth to Bilbao all year round, with the journey taking 35 hours to Spain and 29 hours on its return.

Expo Zaragoza 2008 has promised 25,000 square metres devoted solely to catering, with 60 establishments offering visitors food and drink, from self-service cafeterias to restaurants serving haute cuisine.
