The Castello a Escena Theatre Festival opened last week, bringing amateur theatre to the masses in Valencia.
Some 13 different shows will be performed throughout the year by 12 different theatre groups. The troupes will include Baladre and L'Armelar, with shows entitled L'Alliberament de Dor and Jo se guarder un secret. eSpiral will also be laying on a performance of their Sloa en la oscuridad and there will be a version of a work by Agatha Christie, reports Communitat Valenciana.
Performances take place on Wednesdays, as actors and actresses bring their interpretations of plays and shows to the audience in a unique setting. They take place at the Teatro Principal, giving crowds a modern taste of Spanish theatre.
This is the festival's 11th year, during which it has gained much popularity with locals and visitors.
Spain is rich with culture and this has helped earn the festival such a great reputation, attracting visitors from miles around to see the latest offerings from the various troupes which frequent the events.
