    Travelodge expands to Spain

The famous hotel chain Travelodge has announced plans to open 100 hotels in Spain.

Following successful trials in Barcelona and Madrid, the firm has decided to expand to Malaga, Bilbao, Valencia and Zaragoza, with various other locations still being considered.

And each of the hotel will have up to 100 rooms, welcoming visitors form around the world with their affordable rates.

This £700 million programme is Travelodge's first foray with foreign climes, with the company opting for Spain because of the vast number of visitors heading there each year from the UK.

Travelodge is a familiar name in the UK, with more than 320 hotels across the British Isles boasting an incredible 20,000 rooms.

It is hoped the Spanish project will provide visitors with a home-from-home, offering a great place to stay while enjoying all that Spain has to offer.

And Spaniards are expected to frequent the hotels, with 143 million domestic trips made each year.

Grant Hearn, chief executive of the company, said: "We are very excited about our plans for Spain."
