It has been claimed that Seville is the birthplace of Spanish flamenco dancing and it is certainly one of the best places to see the traditional dancers perform.
Professional dancing shows often take place at small bars known as tablaos and it is possible to see the dancing very close up.
Most tablaos serve food and drink and many promote flamenco dancing as part of their service.
There are also bigger flamenco shows available to visit, which will cost much less but where guests are not able to sit as close to the dancers as in the tablaos.
During September and early October 2008 the Bienal de Flamenco festival will take place in Seville, attracting both dancers and visitors from all over the world.
