Barcelona is well known for its impressive architecture, much of it coming courtesy of ground-breaking architect Antoni Gaudi
Gaudi's work is influenced by natural patterns and bright colours and is still attracting thousands of visitors each year.
His temple, the Sagrada Familia is the most visited attraction in Barcelona even though it's not officially finished yet.
Park Guell is full of stone structures for visitors to enjoy. Colourful mosaic was a technique that Gaudi used throughout the park.
Some of the most famous attractions in the park are the giant lizard fountain and huge wavy bench.
The park also has a museum devoted to the artist converted from a small house in which Gaudi used to live and showcasing some of his other works and featuring furniture he designed.
Another major landmark designed by Gaudi is the Casa Batllo, a green apartment block covered in what look like skulls and bones.
The building was designed for a rich local aristocrat who lived in the building himself and rented out the upper blocks as apartments. It is open for visitors.
Gaudi was born in Reus in Catalonia in 1852 and died at the age of 73 in Barcelona.
