Spain is a popular destination for British families to holiday in, new data has revealed.
Figures compiled by Travelodge show that children aged between five and 12 are more familiar with Spain and France's coastal areas than they are of those in Britain.
The budget hotel chain quizzed nearly 2,000 young people for the survey, which revealed that 57 per cent had been on a holiday to Spain, making it the most-visited nation for this age group.
Such results highlighted the popularity of Spain, which offers families the chance to soak up the sun but is not too far away for those with small children to get to.
Furthermore, those with children can access the nation by a ferry, allowing them to take their own car and the essentials needed to keep little ones happy and occupied while travelling.
In related news, an ICM poll carried out on behalf of the BBC has revealed that British holidaymakers are unwilling to cancel their summer trips despite the credit crunch.
