Holidaymakers taking their cars abroad on a cross-channel ferry have been advised to make sure they are prepared for their trip.
Car insurance provider Tesco has reminded families planning their breaks that if taking their own vehicles they should ensure they have breakdown cover.
This kind of protection is especially useful for those driving in Europe, the insurance provider notes, adding that adequate cover for while they are inside the UK should also be taken out.
"In the unfortunate event of a vehicle being hit by mechanical problems, car breakdown cover minimises disturbance to travel plans and allows customers to get quickly back on the road," the supermarket giant continued.
Earlier this month, Tesco warned British holidaymakers against opting for the cheapest policy available to them.
It noted that motorists should take the time to examine what the policies have to offer for overseas driving and look out for cover which will only offer third-party provision.
