Those who own holiday homes in Europe have been advised to consider driving to their foreign residence by one industry expert.
According to NuBricks.com, those who take trips to their European homes regularly could save money by avoiding hire car costs and using ferry travel to take their own cars along instead.
The investment website explained: "Driving down to your holiday home may work out more cost-effective than flying."
It added that some countries are also still relatively cheap to drive in when it comes to the price of oil.
Spain is considered to have the cheapest unleaded petrol in the eurozone, the website says, as it only costs around £1 per litre.
Research recently conducted by Vauxhall has found that France and Spain are both popular holiday destinations with motorists wanting to take their cars abroad.
Its survey revealed that around 33 per cent of people consider driving abroad to be a good way to find out about the place they are visiting.
