'No stopping Brits taking their holidays'

It seems come hell, high water or the credit crunch, there will be no stopping Brits taking their holidays this summer.

The Scotsman reports that millions of travellers in the nation are decamping to warmer climes, in search of a few weeks of relaxation on a golden beach.

"Bookings from people looking for cheap summer sun have traditionally ensured Spain was the leading holiday destination," Trevor Davis, head of retail distribution at Co-op Travel, told the paper.

He asserted that this year there are not as many good package deals available for holidaymakers, which may mean they have to be a bit more inventive to get a bargain break.

The paper reports a spokesman for the Association of British Travel Agents (Abta) added: "If we look at the sheer number of people going, Spain is still the number one top seller."

According to Abta, around 500,000 people in the UK have holiday homes in Spain, making it a firm favourite with British travellers.

In related news, those who own holiday homes in Europe have been advised to consider driving to their foreign residence by NuBricks.com.
