Rouen is a medieval masterpiece of a city with its magnificent cathedral, narrow cobbled streets and half-timbered buildings. Joan of Arc was burnt at the stake here. Rouen is a bustling modern city with lots to do, see and great places to eat the local French food.

Take in the cities’ Fine Art Museum, then head up the Seine on the abbey trail up to Le Havre. Or cycle through the fruit orchards along the river.
