Santanilla del Mar is reckoned by many to be one of the prettiest towns in Spain, and has been declared a national monument. Many of its ancient houses still stand. Comillas is a picturesque medieval village popular for its beaches and secluded coves. Gaudí built his Capricho de Gaudí here as a summer house for a wealthy resident. Its brickwork is decorated by sunflowers; Gaudí also added blinds that play musical notes when they're opened or closed. The building now houses an upscale restaurant.
