Located in the heart of the city, the Palace Square is one of the most popular places in Stuttgart and serves as a meeting point for visitors and locals alike.

Known as Schlossplatz, this large grassy area is surrounded by the elegant New Palace, Neues Schloss, which was once the residence of German kings. Directly opposite this former royal residence is the Old Castle, Altes Schloss, and the Landesmuseum within is one of the largest cultural exhibitions in the region.

Stuttgart has long been hailed as the 'Cradle of the Automobile' as the first petrol powered car was invented here by Karl Benz in 1886.

Head to the Mercedes Benz Museum to experience a full 125-year history of the automobile and find over 160 beautiful cars to drool over. Even if you aren't a huge motor enthusiast, the museum's stunning modern architecture make it worth your time. Petrol heads should also make sure to visit the famous Porsche Museum, which presents the most stunning cars in the company's illustrious history like catwalk models, with well over 100 on display.

You can also choose to combine your tour with a visit to the factory next door and receive a sneak peek of the production methods behind this iconic car maker.


While Germany is obviously known for producing some of the finest beer in the world, Stuttgart boasts some of the country's most fantastic wine.

With stunning vineyards located in the heart of the city, it's not hard to see why and the area has a rich wine culture dating back 1,000 years. Explore the underground cellars on a tasting tour, and see some of the best views of the city from the hilltop lookouts.

For a relaxing picnic in the sun, Schlossgarten or Killesberg Hill Park are ideal, and both public parks function perfectly as a mini oasis in the middle of the city.

A favourite stop for animal lovers and children is the unique Wilhelma zoo and botanical garden, where you can spot over 1,000 different animals including lions and tigers.


The surrounding villages near Stuttgart are ideal for a day trip. Nearby Waldenbuch is famous for its Ritter Sport chocolate factory while picture perfect Tübingen has beautiful bars and cosy restaurants set up right along the Neckar River.

An hour’s drive from Stuttgart is the home of Legoland Germany, with eight differently themed worlds made of 55 million lego bricks, you’ll also visit the Lego factory and find out more about the production of these famous bricks. A fantastic day for all the family!

For a magical adventure, head to the fairy tale Neo-Gothic Hohenzollern Castle and look out on the awe-inspiring panoramic views from the castle walls. This spectacular hilltop fortification once served as the home of the Prince of Prussia and still holds many royal treasures including sparkling crowns and shiny silver to discover inside.
