Shopping in Leeds Leeds is well-known for its shopping and you won’t be disappointed if you’re looking for a chance to hit the shops and treat yourself. The most popular shopping centre is the Trinity Leeds with 120 shops, bars and restaurants. Or for a more unique shopping experience head to Grade 1 listed Kirkgate Market home to over 400 stalls selling anything from loose tea leafs to fresh flowers. 


Alongside the well-known brands, Leeds has a thriving independent shops and vendors. From homemade craft shops to vintage clothing stores and the opportunity to buy one-off jewellery pieces. The most iconic place to head if you’re looking for independent shops is the Leeds Corn Exchange. But don’t forget to pop into the Victorian Arcades that are the home to a huge selection of independent shops, vendors and cafes.

Leeds have a wealth of culture related activities on offer. If you are interested in the visual arts then we would recommend that you visit the Leeds Art Gallery, the home to a remarkable collection of the twentieth century works. For people that enjoy contemporary art then head over to the Tetley or the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. 


There is also a thriving theatre and shows scene in Leeds. Outside of London it is the only city in England to have both a resident opera and ballet company. There are also four major theatres, a world-class arena, and countless independent venues.

There are plenty of things to do in Leeds, with a range of attractions, experiences and destinations. If you enjoy visiting sites of heritage, then the grand stately homes of Temple Newsam or Harewood House offer an interesting glimpse into the past. 


Harewood House and Gardens is a great mixture between inside and outside locations. From the moment you arrive it will capture your imagination and feed your curiosity. It is filled with art, culture and heritage! The historic Georgian property sits within ‘Capability Brown’ designed landscapes full of beautiful views from the terrace. If you are travelling with children there will be plenty of places to run around and a massive adventure playground for them to enjoy.

Leeds is perfect for people that enjoy being outdoors. Roundhay Park is one of the biggest and most popular city parks in Europe. Take a stroll around the lake or take the trails, spotting local wildlife like woodpeckers. Alternatively, if you are travelling to Leeds by car the Dales are right on your doorstep, making Leeds the perfect base for some outdoor exploration.
